JEDI Speakers Bureau: Nominations are still open!
Do you know
a colleague leading meaningful work in justice, equity, diversity and inclusion? Nominate them to be included in our JEDI Speakers Bureau and serve as a resource and speaker for other Affiliates. The bureau aims to increase access to continuing education and capacity-building resources within APHA Affiliates. Only active members of an APHA Affiliate can submit nominations, and submissions from  inactive members will not be considered. Review the submission details and speaker requirements to learn more.

Request the APHA president to speak at your annual meeting
If you are scheduled for an
APHA president visit in 2026 and would like the president to speak at your meeting or conference, fill out the request form. Affiliates not scheduled for a visit can still submit a request, but they will be responsible for the president’s travel costs. Please submit your request at least two months before your event date. Contact ursula.oguejiofor@apha.org with questions.

As a member of your state or regional public health association, you have a direct line of support with the APHA Affiliate Affairs team. Have questions? Connect during monthly Zoom “office hours.” Join Michelle on Dec. 15 from 3-4 p.m. ET. Office hours, as well as other upcoming events, are listed in the Affiliate Online Community.   • Dec. 17: A to A: The ABCs of Launching a Podcast for your Affiliate – Maine Public Health Association
    • Join us Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. for an informative webinar that will guide your APHA Affiliate through the entire process of developing and launching your own successful webinars. You will gain invaluable insights directly from two experienced Affiliate leaders, Matt Wellington from the Maine Public Health Association, and Megan Moore from Washington State Public Health Association. Matt and Megan have successfully hosted their own programs and are ready to share best practices. This session will address the planning, technical and execution stages, providing a clear roadmap for your organization. Importantly, developing webinars is a cost-effective engagement strategy that often attracts favorable sponsorship from funders, making it a sustainable activity for your Affiliate.
  • Jan. 22: A to A: The ABCs of High School Student Engagement – Delaware Public Health Association
    • Join us Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. for an informative webinar that will guide your APHA Affiliate through the entire process of developing and launching your own successful student engagement program.  Delaware Academy of Medicine and Public Health will provide several activities for high school students throughout the state to engage with the Affiliate. They include a high school internship program, Delaware Mini Medical School, and Delaware Youth Medical Academy. These activities are free and accessible to anyone in the state who wishes to join and provide information on different pathways to the health care and public health fields. Kate Smith will lead this discussion and answer questions.

New Strategic Communications Tip Sheets
The American Public Health Association’s Center for Public Health Policy recently supported 10 community-based organizations working to advance healthier environments and communities through its Building Strategic Communications Capacity Among Community-Based Organizations Working to Create Healthier Environments Mini-Grants program. APHA partnered with Metropolitan Group, a full-service social change agency that crafts and integrates strategic and creative services, to provide communications support to strengthen the visibility, reach and impact of the organizations. As part of this program, Metropolitan Group produced two tip sheets- “Getting Strategic with Social Media” and “How to Engage with the Media” to help public health professionals and advocates learn how best to expand their organization’s reach and impact. 


10 Years, 10 Leaders: Nominations Now Open
The Lead Service Line Replacement Collaborative has launched its 10 Years, 10 Leaders: Honoring Excellence in Lead Service Line Replacement initiative, recognizing individuals and programs demonstrating excellence in 10 essential areas of LSL replacement.

Nominations are now open, and we invite you to help identify and celebrate the individuals and programs leading the way. Please share this opportunity with your networks and encourage colleagues to submit a nomination. Submit your nomination by Jan. 16, 2026.

New DEIA resources informed by member feedback
APHA has refreshed our Health Equity and Racial Equity pages and launched a new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) page based on feedback from 500+ members and Affiliate staff who joined listening sessions and a 2025 member survey. The DEIA page features the 2025 Member Insights from the listening sessions and survey findings, including survey infographics and a Strategies Summary with key themes and promising approaches for DEIA work in today’s political climate. Visit the new page to explore the findings and learn how to get involved through APHA committees, sections and workgroups.

Making the Case for Public Health: What Messages Resonate with the Public
Message testing conducted by Burness identifies what works best when talking about public health investments. The research highlights which messages inspire optimism, action and bipartisan support. The findings can help professionals frame messages that build trust, motivate action and make a stronger case for sustained support of public health. Read the one-pager for key takeaways.

Supporting the Next Generation of Public Health Leaders at UTMB
The University of Texas Medical Branch has been a proud participant in APHA’s School Sponsored Student Membership program since 2023. They currently have 37 students who receive membership to APHA at a 37 percent discount. AJPH Calls for Papers
Calls for paper submissions allow the American Journal of Public Health to promote innovative and high-quality science on key public health priorities. AJPH has five active Calls for Papers with topics ranging from government efficiency and responsible artificial intelligence use to politicization of public health, masculinity and bereavement. The journal looks forward to your submission!

New early career professional resources for your members
Share three new tools with your early career professional and student members: a workbook on building a purpose-driven career, an updated toolkit with practical guides on networking, writing and job applications, and the Voices of Public Health video series with career tips, day-in-the-life perspectives and stories that highlight how lived experience shapes and strengthens careers in public health

The American Journal of Public Health is now offering free continuing education credits for reading articles from 2022 issues. Earn up to 24 credits in CHES, CPH, CNE, CME and nonphysician CME. The course is free, so register today to access the content and earn your certificates.
