I have been a community heath educator as a peace Corps volunteer, worked in a state health department for more than 7 years (HIV prevention and community engagement), and have a passion for queer health. My academic focus as a fourth year PhD student is on health equity in health departments, particularly in the southeast. I hope to narrow that focus to addressing the needs of and services provided to queer folks who use health departments for healthcare. I am interested in policy, program development, and evaluation. I also have an interest in queer food security and other nutritional issues as well as other health education, promotion, and prevention programs of the type offered by health departments.
