Duke Cancer Institute, Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity

Kearston L. Ingraham, M.P.H. is a Research Program Leader at the Duke Cancer Institute in the Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity team. She is responsible for implementing and evaluating health educational outreach and cancer screening endeavors for the office. She serves DukeHealth as a volunteer Staff Diversity Educator. Ms. Ingraham is a public health practitioner and certified patient navigator with nearly 20 years of significant project management leadership and community engagement achievements, which include evaluating over 50 community organizations and technical assistance providers across North Carolina, as well as developing and delivering HIV/AIDS education, awareness, and prevention programs for the Republic of Botswana Defense Force as well as the Republic of Malawi Defense Force. In 2019, she was inducted into the Delta Omega National Honorary Society in Public Health, Eta Chapter (Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine). Ms. Ingraham is dedicated to eliminating health disparities via research, community outreach and engagement, as well as data analysis & project evaluation in the public health field. She is committed to building long-lasting relationships with stakeholders from diverse health focused communities.

Ms. Ingraham received her Master of Public Health degree in International Health and Human Development, with a concentration in monitoring and evaluation from Tulane University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biobehavioral Health with minors in Health Policy Administration, African American Studies, and African Studies from the Pennsylvania State University (Main Campus). In addition, she is a University of California at San Francisco Minority Training Program in Cancer Control Research Fellow. Her areas of interest include health disparities, homelessness, clinical trial participation from diverse populations, monitoring and evaluation, digital health literacy and equitable bioinformatics, as well as behavioral cultural assessments.

She currently serves the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control as the Prevention Subcommittee Co-Chair, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Research Triangle Park Chapter as the Public Health Liaison Chair, and Co-Chair for Wake County Health and Human Services’ HealthLit4Wake Community Outreach and Engagement Workgroup. Ms. Ingraham is also an appointed Board member for Digital Durham and The Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center.
