Bio

My Background:  

With many years of experience in health care and a doctorate in Pharmaceutical Administration/Preventive Medicine from the Ohio State University, I have both the academic qualifications and practical work experience that make me uniquely qualified for health care leadership and academic positions in the Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy and Public Health fields. 

My Work History:

Experience practicing in independent, retail chain and institutional pharmacy including for the Aids Health Foundation as a public health pharmacist.  Currently Director of Pharmacy for Mount Carmel Behavioral Health Hospital, focused on the patient and providing optimal healthcare outcomes for patients with behavioral health needs including medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.  I also teach online courses in the Master's in Healthcare Administration Program at St. Mary of the Woods College, undergraduate online courses in Health Care Management at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and previously taught at Minnesota State University Moorhead in their online Master's in Healthcare Administration program.     

My Interests:

The role of pharmacists as public health advocates, medication safety, promotion of immunizations, and uses of technology to influence and monitor regimen adherence and patient outcomes (general well-being, quality of life, medication-taking behavior, etc.), healthcare administration, health behavior, healthcare management, consumer health behavior, consumer psychology, health communications, social marketing, prevention of drug misuse and opioid use disorder, promotion of adherence to safe drug disposal practices and referral of opioid use disorder patients to effective medication assisted therapy treatment programs.  

Awards include the Chair's Award from the Health Administration Section of APHA and the Distinguished Public Health Practitioner Service Award from the Ohio Public Health Association.  Co-Advisor for the Student Section and Vice Chair of the Membership Committee of OPHA.  Section Councilor and Co-Chair of Task Force on Medication Safety for the Pharmacy Section of APHA and Program Planning Co-Chair for the Health Administration Section of APHA.  Chair of the Intersectional Council's Opioid Work Group of APHA.
