Public health is at work in communities across the country, improving the quality of life for people and providing hope. But it is often difficult to describe public health and its effects in concrete terms, which is a critical step in building support for important programs. APHA’s new HIV/AIDS public health infographic shows how public health programs and research have worked together to change what was once a fatal diagnosis into a chronically managed disease. Public health and prevention have significantly decreased the number of people dying from AIDS – but the fight is not over.
