I am an assistant professor of public health at MCPHS University in Boston, Massachusetts. I have a PhD in medical anthropology and an MPH, both from the University of Connecticut. I study diabetes, depression, and food insecurity syndemics in Puerto Rico, and particularly the effect of Puerto Rico’s political status as a United Status Commonwealth on healthcare decision-making and health outcomes among island Puerto Ricans. I also study mindfulness, health inequities and justice, and environmental justice. In my spare time, I practice yoga, go for walks, and go to the drive-in movie theatre.
