Dr. Lohuwa Mamudu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at Cal State University, Fullerton. He received Ph.D. Statistics from University of South Florida, USF, MSc degree in Mathematical Science (Statistics concentration) from East Tennessee State University, ETSU, and BSc degree in Mathematics with Economics from University for Development Studies, UDS. Dr. Lohuwa is a Statistician/Data Analyst/Data Scientist. He is a former Co-Chair of the Rotary International Grant Committee of Rotary Club of Tampa, FL (2020/2021) and Treasurer of the American Statistical Association, USF-Student Chapter (2018-2021). He has a passion for student mentorship and has more than ten (15) years of teaching and educational experience at the Elementary, High School, and College levels. He organizes and speaks at academic/educational/research workshops and conferences.
Dr. Lohuwa is a health science researcher. His research interest is data-driven, and interdisciplinarily focused on statistical/analytical modeling and the application of qualitative and quantitative statistical and machine learning methods and algorithms. He has interdisciplinary health science research experience with most of my research work focused on cancer diseases, infectious diseases, and immigration health. He collaborates with the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a Freelance Data Analyst and researcher, working on health disease outcomes and disparities among cancer patients (breast, lung cancer, etc.), infectious disease, and immigration health disparities (depression, anxiety, and psychological distress) in the United State. His long-term research goal and interest will focus on big data analytics and artificial intelligence (A.I.) in public health research such as genomics.
Dr. Lohuwa is a motivational speaker and a fundraiser. He engages with several Non-Governmental Organizations to raise funds to help underprivileged and underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad. He loves to spend his leisure playing or watching soccer and going on adventures.
